Ring of fire solar eclipse
May 14 – 20, 2012
We are in for a real treat on Sunday here on the West Coast of the U.S.; at about 5:00 p.m., an annular solar eclipse will begin. By 6:15 – 6:30 depending on how far north or south you are, it will be dark and there will be a ring of fire around the New Moon which will be in front of the sun. The word “annular” means “ring” so this eclipse will be spectacular. Get your gear ready to view this eclipse but don’t look at it directly! There is time to find someone with a solar telescope or you can rig up a viewing system with paper as described online.
The eclipse takes place in Gemini and will profoundly affect Gemini/Sagittarius with the second strongest affects for Virgo/Pisces natives. However, astrology lore dictates that when an eclipse is visible, everyone is affected.
If you’ve never experienced a solar eclipse, this is what will occur: For the first hour, nothing much will happen as the eclipse gets under way. Suddenly, as the eclipse is nearing maximum in the first hour it will get dark. It will stay dark for a few minutes then the light returns.
This will be such a special weekend, you won’t want to miss it! Be sure to gather friends and family around to celebrate this Ring of Fire eclipse; it is the first major event of 2012 and then things really start to happen as we swing into the second half of the year. Taurus (April 20 – May 20): The Sun, Jupiter and Mercury are in your sign and you’re burning up the tracks even though you don’t like to move fast unless you absolutely have to (such as someone eyeing the last chocolate on the plate). The big news this week is the annular solar eclipse, and this kicks off a real round of activity for the rest of the year. In other words, things are going to move really fast now! Sunday is the evening and if you’re on the West Coast of the U.S., it will be visible; the Sun will have just moved into Gemini and the New Moon will cover the sun; your financial sector is about to launch!
Gemini (May 21- June 20): Enjoy the week because you’re going to get shot out of a rocket soon! The Sun moves into your sign on Sunday and is immediately eclipsed by the New Moon in your sign. If you live on the West Coast you’ll be able to witness the event! Your mind is very active now but you’re able to focus due to your Ruler Mercury occupying solid Taurus. Your words are actually coming out making sense! Plan a party for the weekend for sure, and enjoy the solar display!
Cancer (June 21 – July 22): You may be hoping for some quiet, some order and normalcy but it’s not going to happen after this week; on Sunday we have an annular solar eclipse visible from the West Coast of the U.S. so we will be affected by it; it occurs in your sector of Endings, where both the Sun and New Moon eclipsing it will be. This will bring major changes in the coming months, so please fasten your seat belt and be sure your seat is upright and your food tray is locked and secured. Don’t be reactive, feel your way through it but carve out down time!
Leo (July 23 – August 22): While we’re still recovering from the effects of the Super Moon, we’re now approaching the New Moon in your sector of Friends/Goals. This event occurs on Sunday and it will eclipse the Sun. This eclipse will pack a wallop for everyone in the weeks and months following, and someone may be leaving your life. This is not intended to be alarmist; it is part of a natural course and the ebb and flow of life and energy. Now if you actually want someone to leave your life, you’re in luck! Plan to harness this eclipse and be open to the changes it will bring. You are the noble Lion. Let’s hear you roar!
Virgo (August 23 – September 21): Take advantage of the last of the Sun and Jupiter occupying earthy and reliable Taurus in your sector of Expansion. You’ve made great strides and you will need your new gains and skills to take you through the coming weeks and months after Sunday’s solar eclipse. This eclipse will be especially powerful, occurring in your sector of Career; changes will follow, propelling you into opportunities you didn’t know existed. It could very well be that the role you want to play will be vacated by someone and you’ll have an opportunity to seize the moment. Keep your ear to the ground and be diligent.
Libra (September 22 – October 23): The blessings of the recent Grand Trine in Earth and the Supermoon will show you the way through the events triggered by this weekend’s solar eclipse. Sagittarius (November 23 – December 20): Get ready for the annular solar eclipse on Sunday! Pisces (February 21 – March 20): Well, now. The effects of the Super Moon a couple of weeks ago are in full swing and now, oh goody! On Sunday we have an annular solar eclipse visible on the West Coast of the U.S.; we haven’t had a visible eclipse of the sun for quite a while and even though this one is annular it will still get dark! Don’t look at it, though! Use the precautions for viewing as instructed. This eclipse will especially affect you and your Mutable brethren Gemini, Virgo and Sagittarius. For you, the eclipse occurs in your sector of Home, possibly triggering a change of location for you in the coming weeks/months.
